At the Fruiterers’ Autumn Reunion Dinner held at Plaisterers’ Hall on Thursday 4th November 2021 the Master Laurence Olins said that one of the many pleasures of the role is to present awards to deserving people in our great industry. One such award is the Fruiterers’ Under 30 Award, which is given to individuals who have made a mark in horticultural studies, made a career in the fruit industry and may have reached management level, all before reaching the age of 30. I am delighted to announce that the Company is presenting the award this year to Jack Roberts.
Jack joined the technical team at Avalon Produce Limited as a trials development officer in 2016, and has since proved to be a diligent, methodical and thoroughly trustworthy member of their team. Initially helping with maturity testing and store monitoring, Jack developed a passion for agronomy and has established strong professional relationships with in the industry. His ability and potential have shone and he is already well respected by growers and colleagues alike.
Keen to improve processes for the team, Jack wrote the software programme used to record and process fruit maturity data and has been using his experience and in-depth understanding of the industry to assist two innovative companies with development of exciting new technologies. He is dedicated to the future and modernisation of the fruit industry.
Jack, your particular aptitude for new technology is just what the industry needs and your success and impact at a young age clearly demonstrate that you are a worthy recipient. It gives me great pleasure to present you with the Worshipful Company of Fruiterers’ Under 30 Award for 2021.
