Master Laurence Olins presents the Fruiterers' Farm Management Award 2021 to Nigel Stewart
at the Autumn Reunion Dinner held Thursday 4th November 2021 at Plaisterers' Hall, City of London

The Fruiterers’ Management Award is given to individuals who demonstrate progressive and innovative management skills working within the UK fruit industry. There are a lot of very capable managers in the fruit industry and the Management Award is always hotly contested. The Master Laurence Olins said that he was delighted to announce that the Company is presenting the award this year to Nigel Stewart.
As soon as he was nominated there was no doubt that this year the award should go to Nigel. He has been involved in fruit growing all his life. He worked his way up the management ladder on various fruit farms in West Kent and his talent was recognised by Norman Collett, who recruited him for the management team of this leading marketing group of the time.
Being a pleasant, conscientious and hard-working manager with drive, enthusiasm and determination to succeed, he was very well regarded both in the company and the wider industry. Nigel was subsequently headhunted by A C Goatham, the UK’s largest tree fruit growing business, for the position of overall production manager, a job with enormous responsibility and expectations. A measure of the success of the management team led by Nigel is their consistent winning of the annual East Kent Fruit Society orchard competition.
Nigel, you are very highly regarded in the industry, have certainly demonstrated progressive and innovative management skills and are clearly a worthy recipient. It gives me great pleasure to present you with the Worshipful Company of Fruiterers’ Management Award for 2021.
